the title prettymuch describes the problem.. the nvidia 8600 gts based cards are not supported by any of the nvidia driver packages available from the ubuntu repostiories. luckily there is a quite simple solution to that.. it’s got four letters: envy

simply download the script and run it on your computer and it will download and install everything for you. worked perfect for me
